Discussion:
Halo 2 - "Initialization Failed" error message during install

When trying to install Halo 2 for Vista on my new Dell computer (that more
than meets minimum system requirements), I recieve the error message:
"Initialization failed. Either insufficient system resources were found to
run the game, or game data is missing or damaged. Reinstalling the game may
fix this problem." Installation then crashes, sometimes even freezing the
system.

I've tried reinstalling a number of times. I've tried installing on both my
(administrator) account and my son's account. I've tried custom installs, and
normal installs. Based on suggestions I found in these forums I've installed
vcredist, dxsetup, h2v-licr. I've also installed the patches found on the
support page.

I'm at a loss. Any further ideas?

(I must say that Microsoft sucks for even charging for chat support. Even
Symantec provides support free of charge now. Hopefully someone here on these
forums could help out?)

THANKS!

I really hope that someone finds a solution to this problem because I am in
the same boat as you DasEnergi.

Comp specs for ONI are:
4GB RAM
700GB HDD
Core 2 Quad 2.66 GHZ Processor
Vista Home Premium

INTEL G33/G31 Express chip set
Do you think that because I'm using a Plug and play monitor that I recieve
this message?

DasEnergi, What is your video specs. I assume you have a video card right?
Relevance to my video chip is irrelevant.
